3 Small Signs You’re Moving Forward (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 118)
“When you focus on problems, you will have more problems. When you focus on possibilities you’ll have more opportunities.”
A sure way to stop progress is to give power to negative energy. When we fill our space with right goals and positive thoughts, everything that is wrong and negative has to move. If the negative is allowed to run rampant, the positive will eventually slip away from us. Learn to play the game of elimination. If something or someone doesn’t add to your life, open the door for it to leave. If it doesn’t leave on its own, kick it out. Break the habit of giving voice to problems and choose to talk about the possibilities. There are so many on the road of progress.
Here are three more signs you’re moving forward in life even if you don’t feel it:
1. When you choose to focus on the positive instead of the negative. It’s true that what we choose to pay attention to increases. Focusing on what is good and positive isn’t always our natural first inclination. We can intentionally train our minds to view every situation through a positive lens. But you know this. You know that perception is a powerful tool. You’ve chosen to not only look for good, but to see the good that can arise out of every situation. Where others see roadblocks, you see potential. Where others see problems, you see solutions.
2. When you stop complaining and start changing. We can all argue that challenges we face in life are unfair. People treat us meanly, relationships go bad, and things go wrong many times for reasons beyond our control and understanding. You know that it’s easier to complain and whine when these things happen, but change rarely comes in this way. You’ve learned to stop complaining as soon as you feel the urge and channel your energy to better paths that help you progress and reach your goals.
3. When you stop waiting for someone else to give you the green light. The quietest voice is in your own head. This is what it gets drowned out many times by the opinions and suggestions of others. When you turn down the volume of external voices, the voice in your head has so much more room to speak. Instead of waiting for people to approve of your goals and commit to your passions, you’ve chosen to give yourself your own green light. You’ve grow in confidence and assurance of what you’re supposed to do in this world. You’ve found your place and don’t need anyone’s permission to be here.
“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”
