Little Steps, Big Leaps (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 117)
John 10:10 (NLT)
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Life is designed to be a great experience. Without such an experience, it becomes meaningless and we come close to being lifeless. Many times, however, life starts to feel a lot like routine. In fact, much of it is routine. We don’t drastically change our lives from day to day.
But being in a rut is not part of that experience. When we get into a rut, we can easily stay there by just trying to pull through each day. We were not made just to get through; we were made to thrive at every point of life, every day. When life gets tough, we can begin to wonder if what we see and what we’re doing is really all there is.
The answer is a resounding no. Jesus came that we may not only have life but be able to live it abundantly. Abundant living is meaningful, fulfilling, long-lasting, and free. The cup of an abundant life is not just full; it is overflowing. God doesn’t want us to just pull through life. He wants us to be excited about living. You want to live a life of thriving, not just surviving.
Sometimes, life can be depressing. People around you can cause you to feel frustrated and disappointed. But if you tap into a greater source of strength and power, you can keep your life on that track of abundance. Instead of letting situations and people get you down, start looking up and thanking God for giving you life. Let Him help you break out of the rut and the mundane routine. Experience life as it was designed — full of freedom, goodness, joy, and opportunity.
“Whatsoever is good for God’s children they shall have it; for all is theirs to help them towards heaven.”
