3 Novel Signs You’re Moving Forward

Growth is the sum total of eliminating positive habits and replacing negative thought patterns. There are many people who go through life trying to do this or be that, but they fail to grow. That is why they make the same mistakes and get the same results. Or, they look successful and privileged on the outside, but are turmoiled and pained on the inside. Life is given to us not only to succeed, but to grow in every way possible. Growth in and of itself is progress, and progress is always a good thing. 

Here are three more signs you’re moving forward in life even if you don’t feel it:

1. When you stop criticizing yourself and start accepting everything about. Very many of us struggle with this one. We hate to fail but in our heads we know it is part of the process. If you set goals that are high enough, you’ve learned that you’ll always be at the edge of comfort. Failure and mistakes are part of growing up and growing in any situation. With this understanding, failure is not the end of life for you; it is just part of a new beginning. Instead of blaming yourself all the time, you’ve learned to appreciate your effort, value the struggle, and keep engaging yourself until you get it right.

2. When you leave the past in the past. The past cannot be changed. You not only know this in theory, but you accept it in practice. You’ve learned that the only way to grow is to release the past, cease to worry about it, and stop attempting to go back there. While it is normal to recall past mistakes, you know that it is not beneficial to live there. Time is better spent in other places like the present and the future. You’ve taken power over your thoughts and instead of letting it pull you into the past, you pull it to your present and future.
3. When you no longer work for applause or approval. We all want to be recognized for our contributions and achievements, but not to the point where it becomes an obsession. It’s important to ask ourselves the question, “Would I still do what I am doing even if no one recognized me or appreciated me for it?” You’ve taken comfort in doing what you do for the benefit of others, not for their approval or affirmation. You’ve resigned yourself to produce awesome, excellent work that emerges from your values. Recognition comes after a long period of commitment, dedication, and excellence. But you know that and you’re content to be an applause to yourself while you wait for the world to catch on.
