Delighted in the Details (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 94)

Delighted in the Details

Psalm 37:23 (NLT)
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

God is not too big or too busy not to pay attention to each and every one of us. He cares about every detail of our lives. It is His concern that we follow not just any path, but the path He has set especially and specifically for us. When we trust Him, it pleases Him to direct every movement and moment of our lives.

Sometimes, we attempt to push through our own agenda that we, in our finiteness and limited power, have set for ourselves. It has been said that when people set plans, God laughs. He may or may not laugh, but He does often change the plans we set. The God of divine blessing orders our actions and affairs so that we may bring Him the most glory.

There are several ways in which God directs us. First, He uses His Word. The Bible is both life and light for those who choose to obey the commands contained therein. Second, He uses the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a careful being always at our side to keep us in continual dependence upon the Lord’s guidance. Third, He uses our conscience. God causes our conscience to speak to us and help us make right decisions.

God does not always show us the end from the beginning. If He did that, most of us would be afraid to take the journey. Instead, He walks with each one of us, step by step, day by day. When we delight in God, He takes pleasure in showering our path, not with ease, but with favor. Every single part of us is important to God. If we have faith enough to follow, He has power enough to lead us into His choicest paths of blessing.

“The true dimensions of a soul are seen in its delights. Not what we dutifully will but what we passionately want reveals our excellence or evil.”
— John Piper
