Joyful in Obedience (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 73)

Joyful in Obedience

Psalm 112:1 (NLT)
Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands.

We have many reasons to praise the Lord in this life. The main reason is because He is worthy and deserves our thanks for the gifts He has given to us. Furthermore, those who express their appreciation to God are able to do so because they fear Him and are serving Him. We owe our happiness and joy completely to the abundant grace of God. God gave His own Son for us that we may have no excuse not to return the favor by giving ourselves to Him.

The blessings we seek and the joy we desire are a direct result of our willingness to fear the Lord and obey His commandments. True happiness is derived from obedience. Those who obey stand in awe of the goodness of God every day. Their constant reverence for His majesty and surrender to His will put them in a place of abiding peace and an overflowing joy that is purposeful and passionate.

Like a parent is pleased with an obedient child, likewise God, our Heavenly Father, is delighted when His children obey His Word. Let the Word of God be written on your heart. Take delight to do His will and in turn you will receive soul-stirring joy. It is a pleasure to discover God’s will, to converse with Him through prayer, and to meditate on His word. True joy in life is found in humble submission and sincere surrender. The greatest enjoyment is to be found contently in the center of God’s will.

“God can only keep those who have handed themselves over to Him.”
