Forgiven and Restored (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 72)
Joel 2:25 (NLT)
The Lord says, I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts. It was I who sent this great destroying army against you.
Do you feel as though you have lost or wasted years of your life? Are there regrets that you wish you didn’t have? Or do you have burdens that you don’t want to bear? How about any hurts and hangups from the past? Does guilt and shame override your inner joy, strength, and sense of purpose?
God promises two wonderful things when we give everything about our lives over to Him. First, God will forgive us completely. Second, He will restore us fully. Forgiveness and restoration are gifts of grace and goodness that God bestows upon those who desperately want it. God commits to giving us back what we lost when we turn to Him in humble repentance.
While we will face trials and temptations throughout our lives, and we may suffer the outcome of our sinful choices of the past, God is well able to restore the time we feel is lost to sin, guilt, and shame. We don’t go back and start all over again. Every experience, even if it was a bad one, helps us to grow toward maturity. God is able to fill up the time and days that we have left with blessing and victory beyond measure.
No matter what you have been through or how old you are, it is never too late for you to give your heart to the Lord. When you repent humbly, God offers grace beyond the length of the largest ocean and mercy deeper than the widest sea. The last years of your life can be forgiven, full, and free.
“When God forgives, He at once restores.”
