3 More Thoughts That’ll Change You (365 Days of Spirited Living – DAY 40)
“Don’t limit yourself to being a mere fountain when you contain an ocean.”
— Vera Nazarian
You can have comfort or courage, but you can never have both. Dr. Brene Brown said this in a popular TEDx talk and it holds a lot of truth. Courage is the friend of accomplishment; comfort is accomplishment’s enemy. You will never be able to see what you can do until you stretch yourself to do it. Remaining where you are will only give you what you’ve been getting. But when courage kicks in, it forces you to look and move beyond what you see to experience greater things.
Take risks, but don’t take stupid risks. Don’t risk your life not doing what you were made to do and what you love to do, thinking you will have the freedom and time to do it at an indefinite time in the future. Take the risk to live with everything in you right now. When you do what you were made to do, you won’t have to regret not seeing the future because you’ve already done that ‘later’ thing ‘now’.
Never accept limits. When limits are placed on you, refuse them. But don’t refuse them and do nothing. Refuse them and embrace all the possibilities that lie outside of your limits. Go beyond what you can see. Let your dreams push you outside of your limits. The first key to not accepting limits, is to not have any limits to accept in the first place.
“Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim.”
— Nora Ephron
