It Is All For Your Good

It Is All For Your Good

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

It is an inevitable fact that we will all face difficult situations in life from time to time. As much as we want only good things to happen, bad things will happen at one time or another. Sometimes, we bring these things on ourselves; other times, God allows things to happen to us to teach us a lesson or to open up a door that may not have otherwise been open to us. When we face unfortunate circumstances, it is important for us to remember God’s unconditional love for us and His sovereign will for our lives.

God never wastes anything we go through in life. Each and every opportunity is a chance for us to grow, to mature, and to be blessed. Sometimes, we prolong God’s blessings from getting to us by not keeping the right attitude when bad things happen in our lives. Since we do not know God’s ways or thoughts, it is best for us to trust God and follow God’s will in the bad times just as we are more willing to do in the good times.

If we keep the right attitude, God will turn bad situations around for our good. Romans 8:28 is a promise that God has made to all His children, and God does keep His promises. It does not matter how we got into a bad situation, whether it was by someone else’s treatment of us or by our own poor choices. God is so sovereign that He will take the worst situations and use them for good in us, through us, and with us.

God is in the business of taking evil and turning it around for good. When Joseph was thrown in the pit by His brothers, God turned that bad situation around to work in His favor by eventually causing Him to become prime minister of Egypt. In the midst of David being pursued by His enemies, God made sure He became king of Israel. When the devil thought he had defeated Jesus Christ on the cross, God made sure that on the third day He rose again from the dead in power and glory.

We may not always like the process to get to our destiny. But the process is necessary because during that process, we grow, mature, build character, and ultimately become who God wants us to be. So when you encounter difficult situations, or people treat you unfairly, or you’re not getting ahead as quickly as you like, remember that God is in control and He is working everything out behind the scenes for your good and for His glory.

Lord, thank You for the situations and the difficulties we encounter that cause us to grow and to be all You want us to be. Deliver us from getting discouraged during these times and from displaying an attitude of negativity. Help us instead to trust You and to know that You are sovereign, and You are working on our behalf. We love You, and we thank You for being our rock and our strong tower. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
